I've a 04 reg TD4. It's a SE model and on the display I've got my Mileometer and pressing the right hand pushy thing it changes to tells me my Trip mileage.

However this is all across the bottom of the display. Across the top is nothing, totally blank and the left hand sticky pushy thing dosn't seem to do anything.

There's not even a outside temperature guage which surprises me. I've also noted that the other day when it was very icy my aux heater didn't come on.

Anyone got any suggestions? Is it just I've got a basic model that dosn't have any readout??? But I have got an aux heater pipe sticking out the bottom as it's one of the reasons why I bought this one.

Thanks all.

Hi there!

No external temp - it's not a bug, it's a feature :)

Heater should work work when outside temp drops below 5Cº (Only happened once where I'm from since I have it)

It could have failed to start and you need to reset the FBH - Pull its fuse F5 IIRC.

Maybe a search could be of more help.

Hi, :)

My SPTs (sticky pushy things) do not function like nickcc's ones do.

One short push of the Right Hand SPT changes the mileometer to trip reading, another prolonged push of the RH SPT zeros it. yet another short push changes it back to the total reading.

The LH SPT has no function whatsoever!

I have fitted my own outside temperature guage along with an altimeter.

My FBH (fuel burning heater) usually only comes on automatically for the first start of the day - it always fires up whatever the outside temp, but it shuts down quickly if the temp is above 5C, and of course stays on a bit longer if the temp is below 5C - until the engine is up to normal working temp.

Slayer is right - pull the fuse to reset - but wait with the fuse out for at least 10 minutes with the ignition key out.

There is a fail-safe built in so that the FBH will not start if the fuel level in the tank is low - to prevent the FBH running the tank dry.

Really confused now. Great to know the display isn't faulty, but to reset the FBH, my fuse 5 is for the starter motor? CHecked in the book and it dosn't give a seperate fuse for the FBH???

 Yes - you're right, F5 is the starter. I've checked and I can't find any fuse mentioned for the FBH.

You could of course just disconnect the battery, leave it off for an hour, and you will have reset lots of things back to factory setting.

I did that a couple of weeks back.

Check you know any radio codes needed and be prepared to re-calibrate the windows - esp the rear door one - not difficult.

signovogel,

Have you got a pic of the temp/altimiter guage you fitted?? Where did you locate the display on the dash? Ive wanted to fit a temp guage to mine for a while now.. I originally bought one off ebay and fitted it into the recess where the clock is... but it just didnt look right and also had a interior temp display which gave readings of 40 odd C in the summer!!

If you get a chance can you tell me what unit youve fitted and where?

I saw an old thread on here, and a member has what looks like a genuine LR display fitted where the square recess is in the dash by the rear window switch.. I ent him a PM months ago, but he never got back to me, and ive been in touch with the shop he bought it from but they said they dont stock it anymore

I have the Wayfinder V7000 altimeter/compass/temp gauge fitted above the clock side by side with my Garmin Nuvi. There is a hard wired outside temp sensor which I led out via the door jamb and fitted to the LH inside wing just beside the headlamp fixing screws. I see that it is discontinued but there are alternatives. Link:

A good alternative is the Scangauge OBD reader which gives loads of info - you select which 4 gauges of 12 available to display on the screen and they are easily changed around.

It's great as you have a permanent connection to the OBD port and it scans for fault codes every time you switch on. I have mine fixed on the instrument binnacle right behind the steering wheel. Link:

Happy hunting - I wouldn't be without them - especially the scan gauge as you can easily take it out and diagnose OBD codes on any vehicle. :D

Cheers singvogel...

Some nice looking items there.. I wanted something that fitted into an existing cavity to make it look standard & not like an add on.. but got to be honest, the first one you suggested is tempting me!! So its either gonna be that or an RDS kit ibe found on the web for £49.. It plugs in behind your current rds cd/mp3 player and displays the ext temp on your radio display..

Really appreciate the links you posted.. Thanks matey
