dislocation cones?

just noticed under the landy that the rear springs were not located correctly at the top and had popped ouf of place due to over articulation. any ideas?

get the same with my 90 hoping to pick up some cones at the south west 4x4 show the weekend

Had jubilee clips on mine for years, no issues.
Also used heavy duty cable ties in the past, again did the job fine.
Cheers

just worked out how to do the pics at last ;-)

if you push it that far then i'd say it was better to hang 1 wheel in the air than have it seat back down on the spring wrong, if it even seats on the spring again

does it restrict articulation?
If you are going to push your axles to extremes them better to fit proper dislocation cones and long travel shocks.
For most people's purposes it wont make any difference to axle articulation and will keep the springs in place. I have some 12mm wide plastic cable ties holding mine because they are cheaper than jubilee clips and much easier to cut off when I need to undo them.

that wouldnt be any gd if you wanna keep yr wheels on the ground which is what you need to get traction..if your shocks travel further down than yr springs allow then restricting the spring and not allowing it to dislocate and relocate will lose you traction if yr wheel is hanging in the air.
my dislocation cones are fantastic and relocate the springs just fine, thats just moi

well that kinda goes without saying doesnt it. all we are saying is that jubilee clips, or indeed cable ties, are a lot cheaper if you dont need it to be that extreme.

if you are not running dropped shock mounts or extended shocks they shouldn't come out through 'normal' use. But they will if you thrash it lol. Might wanna look at your bushes on your radius / trailing arms. The jubilee clips will sort you out no problems and as everyone has said already if you want more articulation then you should look into dropped mounts or extended shocks and of course dislocation cones. So in short it just depends wat u wanna spend. I would look at big bore shocks if you are thrashing as it won't be long till your standards break...
