Hi guys
I have a 2004 disco td5 auto 235000 km
About 12 months ago the green lights indicating electronic gearbox trouble occasionally flashed on driving off but stopped straight away on restarting motor
Gradually became more frequent so I fitted a new battery.
Then turbo hose blew and sprayed oil everywhere.
replaced hose but turbo failed and replaced with second hand one (with warranty)
Starter seized and car sat for about three weeks until replaced.
About the same time the engine started running roughly and often serious power loss.
occasionally briefly improved.
the auto lights started to flash nearly every startup and would take several resarts to kid them to stop.
when they flash car is reluctant to drive off and engine roughness at its worst.
now they occasionally flash whilst driving and have to stop an kid them to stop again. (sometimes several restarts) When they flash while driving it doesnt seem to affect auto or engine. If I kept driving with them flashing would it harm auto?
Do you think the auto and engine problems could both be caused by a computer problem, or should be attacked as unrelated?
The housing for the gearbox selector is loose and doesn't sit down tight. Could the auto problem be something to do with the circuit boards and contacts under there?

there could be 22 reasons for the M & S to flash, the safest thing is to plug in a tester and read the fault codes from engine ECU and transmission ECU both.... the most common fault though is the XYZ switch(check for corrosion in the connector first)... but it's not cheap so u better not rely on luck and read the codes to make sure
