my discovery has lost dipped headlight beam its not bulbs or fuses and i have changed indicator stalk any ideas plz

Some early 300 used to have a dimmer unit that ran the low beams as sidelights, not sure what year that stopped.
If not that you are going to have to take a look at the wiring diagram, as it effects both lights it could be the relay?

+1
Relay would be the first place to look, pull it out and check the teminals for corrosion or scorching

All 300 series (uk only) and without headlamp levelling had the dim-dip function when they left the factory until their end with the1998MY.
Dim-dip only functions when sidelights and the starter switch is turned on only, switching on main beam, dip or high will override the system
Simply disconnecting the electrical plug from the resistor in the engine bay will isolates the whole of dim-dip system.
As for fuses u did test fuse 10 & 11 in the interior fusebox, if also high beam was missing then the 30amp fuse in the engine bay would be a suspect.

they came back on last night but have gone of again today
Damp in some part of the system.
Check all earths and connections. If that don't do it, maybe there is insulation cracked somewhere, which with damp could cause a short to earth not enough to blow a fuse but.....
could be summat else of course...
