Evening,

Looking to replace the window seals on the rear windows on my Discovery 300tdi. Any suggestions, other than amble soapy water? or tools available to make the job easier?

Many thanks

The manufacturers use a string tool fitted to the seal inner lip after soap is applied & then pulled put carefully so that the seal lip fits over the window frame.
Not sure if Draper or similar sell the string tool, try trade counters...

Are you taking the ****??:)

Jeffa just buy a roll of 3 or 4 mm nylon rope and place it inside the window seal with both ends hanging out by a foot or so.
Offer the window up for fiting and make sure both ends of the string are inside the vehicle.

Start fitting the window the hold one end of the string and start to pull the other end along the window. As it moves along it will pull the seal over the lip on the opening by the time you get all the way round to the other string the window will be fitted perfectly. If you've got some one to push the window in from the outside it makes life easier.

ive just tidied mine up a bit, they had big splits on each corner on both the back windows and on the rear window seal aswell, they didnt leak they just looked awful. a common fault im told, i masked them off, cleaned em up and used black silicone. they look much better now!

String method is best ,pull on the string and turn in a circular motion this helps the process and stops the string acting like a cheese wire on your new seals !
