Handbrake light stays on - checked brake fluid level and all OK. I have also disconnected both switches which I thought would have extinguished the light but it stays on. I can't see anything else which would cause the light to stay on but I am open to suggestions !!

Which switches did you unplug? from the fluid reservoir cap and from the handbrake? ... if yes, are your 3 amigos showing on ignition self test?... if yes again it might be a bit complicated cos measurements are involved... this lamp is triggered by the SLABS ECU too despite of the circuit diagram which is wrong showing only the two switches ...if you are up to measure and you have RAVE for the connector pin dispiosals i'll tell you what to do

by the way, does it go out after the self check then comes back immediately or it stays on all the time....answer to all my questions please cos it's important

Unpluged fluid and handbrake switches. 3 amigos are not reliable following this issue (which you kindly helped with a few years ago) https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/td5-abs-tc-and-hd-lights.213967/
I never got round to unwiring the instrument panel wires - on my list of things to do!
I have RAVE and circuit tester - BTW - no it stays on all the time.
It has started following the replacement of a rear hub bearing, this might be a red herring.
You seem to be a mine of information - I thought after 300,000 miles I might be close to understanding these machines, may need a couple of hundred more !!

yes i did now... as the 3 amigos are ''corrupted'' IMO the red brake light is triggered by that hub replacement cos on sensor open circuit faults it's part of the 3 amigos(actually 4, it should be all the time but in reality it isnt)... so check if that sensor is well connected eventualy measure it's resistance with multimeter, it must be between 950-1100ohm.... and for God's sake eliminate that wiring bodge and fix it properly ... if i knew you'll make it permannent i wouldn't have told you how :(

Fair point on the bodge - I'll have to do something as the water sensor/plug has disintigrated so nothing lights up now. Will check sensor over the weekend.
I'm interested in peoples mental/driving attitude towards ABS, on my Discovery all 4 brakes work, TC works (but some of the lights don't) but do we drive with the view that current technology will save us some how so we can drive closer and faster regardless of conditions.

the brakes mechanical/hydraulic functionality has nothing to do with the ABS system, also that water in fuel warning is useless but as long as you have the factory fitted ABS it's important to make sure it works properly cos it can go mad at a point so the TC to kick in unwanted at speed and put brake on a front wheel then you can end up bad... that's why in some cases when the 3 amigos are coming on the TC is completely inhibited by default to avoid this possibility... fix the system for good and it will help you stay safe and be safe for others in traffic

Can you tell me what to do please 🙏 or point to the thread as I have the same issue.
My handbrake switch wire is earthed ????

I have no ideea what you want as you quoted twice a post of mine while your questions are too vague, open a thread with your specific problem describing it with details then maybe i can help
