Hi all been experiencing difficulties with what I think is the rectifier on the alternator...... we broke down the other day it started trying to cut out all lights flickering on dash went to startup again... nothing... managed to tow it home using a mates landy.... since done some tests on the battery ... it was reading less than 12v so put on trickle charge for 24hrs and retested at 12.77v.... put on disco cranked straight up and did some tests with multimeter ... running voltage across the poles was 11.96 and dropping the more electrics I turned on.... then did a running AC test that came back 25.6....thinking the alternators kaput or the rectifiers had it .....

Either way you have to remove it to find out what's the trouble and do it ASAP cos you'll kill the battery for good
Any idea what kinda job it is buddy? I've looked on the rave manual and it doesn't look too bad but it's pretty tucked out the way...... I've had the starter motor off before to refurb and replaced the waterpump last month so got some basic mechanical skills lol

Before you remove it, check the tightness of the both output cables.
One of mine came off, battery died in about 5 miles.
Thanks for that buddy.... do I get to the cables from underneath?? I can't even see the terminals or any wires from the top inside the engine bay lol

I'd be interested how do you check both output cables while it has only one... the loom connected with multiplug does not affect charging
