Hi Everyone...
I picked up this JVC head unit some time ago as the original Land Rover one was a tape player, but as you can see from the photo, it sticks out of the console at least an inch! but the funny thing is, is that the original unit was exactly the same. So would anybody know of a head unit (within reasonable budget) that i can replace the JVC with that fits properly and doesn't stick out?
Much appreciated :tea:

It will fit, its the way the wiring has been pushed in behind the unit. There is very little room and care must be taken to get the wiring and associated plugs out of the way of the rear of the stereo.
Take the stereo out and work out where you can put the gubbings, it will fit, remember when I did mine (long time ago now) someone had used a row of connector blocks to connect the wiring and that was preventing the unit fitting.
As a last resort you could try soldering the wiring together but mind and use shrink tubing on the bare wires.

You also need to remove the mounting cage from the Radio/CD and fit that first, before attempting to install the radio itself.

As above.... push the cage in first and lock it in by bending the tabs out then push in the head unit which will then lock to the cage, assuming your cables are tidy.

If you can get your hand behind the rear of the unit that will help with pulling the cables back into the dash, at the same time as pushing in the head unit, that's how it was done with the RRc that had the unit in a similar position.
