New addition to the Bell garage this weekend - we have a '67 DS from the JLR VIP fleet. It's replacing two of our cars - an MG ZTT (owned for 15 years) and the much-loved FL1. We can collectively thank our wonderful London Mayor for this decision, as there is no way I'd otherwise even think of selling these fantastic, albeit aging cars.

ULEZ rant to one side, I shall be keeping the Freelander for a little longer - a couple of things left to fix, a couple more adventures to be had...

But I want the DS to take over from the FL1. Ironically, it has similar off-road limitations - principally, limited road clearance, so 17" wheels will be a must with taller rubber for the rough stuff is currently on my mind.

Are there other DS owners on here? The Disco section doesn't feel right - the DS has much more in common with the FL, particularly the FL2...

I’ve just changed from a Discovery Sport to an Evoque and loved the DS - did over 27k in it in just over 6 months

Great tow car for its size and was regularly on digger trailer or stock trailer or 16’ box trailer

Got towbar on Evoque but not had chance to use it yet!

Enjoy your purchase.

Thanks - this has a tow bar - I don’t tow often, but have been know to tug car trailers and projects about, so will be invaluable :)

Really liking it so far - not done too many miles yet though :)

I'm so jealous. I'd love a DS to be our family transport. Instead we're picking up a new Mazda CX5 next weekend. Not an LR, but very well equipped and will keep the bank of wife happy.

I still get to keep my FL1, so not all bad.:)

Enjoy you DS for me, and keep posting on here.;)

My brother ferried us around in a DS when we were over last. It was a lovely car. Its a shame though that the individual Land/Range Rovers don't have their own identity/character any more.

They're all "McGovern-esque", that's true. The DS is quite a hansome beast - although this particular one has been "Black packed" - which isn't quite my cup of tea, but the price was right - and I can swap out the cosmetic bits I don't like :)

LOL!

Mechanically it's more a Freelander 2 than a Disco. Also, there is no section for the Evoque - might make sense to have a DS/Evok section???
There's no going back. Yer a disco owner now and we all know it. :p

It dun't have the same gear box or engine as the FL2. The rear diff/haldex setup is from a different generation anorl.

The evoque is a range rover despite what the range, shorry big Freelander owners like to say. ;)

As its ex JLR fleet and black packed, its not VA17BRZ by any chance? That's the one he was ferrying us around in.

No - not quite that black!

She’s Indus silver. I’ll post a picture later when I get a decent picture.

Not keen on black wheels. Been there, done that 15 years ago!!! Looking for either replacements in silver or might recondition these - whichever works to be most convenient :)

Depending on the condition of the black alloys you’ll probably get a better price selling them then getting new to you silver ones so could be financially beneficial to you

The dealer I bought it off got his body shop boys to paint it black (and went a bit OTT to my tastes). But judging by the costs from Land Rover to do the same thing, I can’t blame him.

I spotted the price of “genuine” black alloys - 5x more than the purchase price of my beloved Hippo!

I would guess a lot of Disco Sport owners end up on the DS forum. From around the start of FL2 era a lot of vehicle specific forums were created. They're busy while the vehicle they prepresent is in production but go a bit quiet after that. As each new vehicle is announced a new forum pops up. They're handy for faults as owners pick up a lot of info from warranty repair and dealer discussion/investigation.

In those days there was a lot more forums available than there are now. Who remembers lrboards? Sadly a lot closed.

LZ was a lot rougher back then so owners of newer vehicles were put oft lz. The one liners were a lot hasher back then and the language/antics not reserved for anything goes only. A lot of that behaviour has died down but peeps tend to follow vehicle specific forums these days. Hence why there isn't much about the DS on ere. Even our own Disco section is quiet for D3/4 owners. We do have a small number of them plus more who look but dun't post.

The DS forum is a bit strange. It's the first vehicle specific forum I've come across where the general trend is to hate said vehicle. A lot of new car owners are leasing via work so they're restricted on choice of LR they get or they're taxed more if getting a bigger one. The DS forum seems to be quite angry about the DS. Not all but if yer have a look round it's noticeable. It's the first I've seen where signatures list the faults you've had and cars rejected + reasons.

100% agree: the DS forums are very odd: its about what trim level you bought, what faults you had and how many times you rejected your car...

LZ is much more my kind of place :) We're all happy to get the tool box out!
