Arm cranking is a quick and easy mod if you are proficient at welding. I wouldn't recommend you tackle it as a novice. Preparation is the key.

As mentioned before, I agree that many mods that are carried out should be built in already. Then again what we do????

Painted the bumpers and sliders today. Yes they had rust spots on them but nothing that a wipe out didn't sort out. It has been raining here for ages.

Great idea about the arms.. :)
Just wondering though, would it not be better to heat up the arms and bend them, rather than cutting them and welding..?

They are a tube so wouldn't bend well unless you have mandrel bender which I don't. In fact I haven't even got a vice on a bench. Remarkable considering......

They look ugly at the mo but wait until next week when I ave time to finish once I have tried to break them

Black paint at night again.........

Pics will come as soon as the bumper goes back on hehehe. However I promised Mrs Hornet Xmas shopping tomorrow but still need to be back for kids after school. Should be some daylight.

You up for a trip out to test my arms and your shocks? Just an hour or two. Perhaps use the winch too?

Readers beware I think there are two different thicknesses of trailing arms.

Some cars seem to have very weedy ones fitted as standard.

Worth sourcing the thicker ones before you start :)

Urm no but I reckon mine are the thicker ones so will try to measure.

Think it was the really early cars, maybe even pre disco.

In fact yes, they had the rounded cast axle end as opposed to the disco one which is more square end less rounded over.

The early ones kinda were cast in towards the tube so it looked smoother whereas the better ones have a bigger axle end thingy and it is welded straight into the tube in a T fashion.

When are you thinking mate , you would always come to oxley shaw on Sunday to fit it a try out!

Yeah I have a fair few ideas on that one.

Keeping myself busy at the moment trying to bring my website upto date. Not only have I got to add in some design work to earn a living but also adding in the Hornet build AND the eventually the work I am doing on the Lotus 7.

I am having a good laugh as I review my thread and the photos. Its amazing what you actually forget you have achieved and the areas that you covered. I must say I am having a nice evening reading this again.
