Hi there,

I have a disco II and my rear suspension is gone. Been to a Land Rover specialist in my area, he plugged in his cool laptop into my car and says the compressor is gone. He said, I need to replace the compressor and modified a filter that is located at the rear passenger side lights cluster. He said otherwise within 8 or 9 months the compressor gonna breaks again. Is that true?

Thanks

If the filter has got the cap on it and you dont go in water 5ft deep, then theres pretty much nothing wrong with the original one tbh.

Hi there, before you spend any money, can I suggest that you check the compressor fuse in the engine bay fusebox - FL9 30a fuseable link - if this has blown your compressor can't work.

Re the the air suspension filter, there is a modified version available which should be used.

99% of all air suspension problems on Disco II are caused by leaking/perished airbags, so before spending any money, make sure the garage knows you are paying them to solve a problem not just to replace parts.

First of all, u guys are so quick in replying....anyway the guy checked the fuses and says it was fine.

And from the laptop, he instructed the ECU to open the valves of the air bags which is fine, but when try to start the compressor, nothing seems happening so the specialist confidently says that the compressor gone.

And he recommended me to change to the modified filter as well.

And all this gonna costs about £560. Do you guys thinks its fair price.

Thanks

Btw, this is off topic, seeing some of you are regular in LRO forum as well, I tried to register in LRO forum since in LRO u get plenty of howto videos and stuff. Did the registration, but approval is needed. Waited nearly a week, still no reply. I guess the admin must be stucked somewhere in a remote area....and cant get any flight home. :5breddevil:

Seriously mate, I gave you all the info on the fuse business so that you could check it. Don't trust garages to do it for you when all it takes is to open a cover.

On the subject of value (£560), it depends. Could you do the job yourself? If not, you are going to have to pay someone else to do it for you and they are going to charge you about £300 for fitting a new component that would take an average diy-er about 30 mins - value, you decide.

I know how to change it, but my car is covered by AA Parts and Labour Breakdown coverage which covers to repair my suspension which limits me 5 claims a year each claim of £500. So top a bit and lets the "specialist" gets their hands dirty. :)
