Mpi is very much unloved, as a bit underpowered,
However i've no idea what the longevity or reliability of the engine is....
Of course, if the truck is good, there is bound to be a rotten one to donate it's TDI or V8!

I'll leave the slagging of ther Freelander to others here.....

Depends on how cheap... for field work it's a disco every time, provided the tyres are suitable.

Worth bearing in mind that prices are seriously inflated at the moment as quite a lot of Tarquins and Pandoras are buying them at any money because their beemers and mercs don't work as well as they'd like in the snow. Give it 4 or 5 months and what looks cheap now will look a bit pricey.

Cheers,

the 2 litre disco will be underpowered for towing a horse trailer regularly... it will do it but slowly...freelander is basically an estate car that got half a chance on a flat damp field.... disco will go through the muddy gateway to get out again

If you had an old Disco 2.0 MPi to get shut of, now would be the best time. You might even sell it!!!
