Hi
I have a 1998 Mk1 Disco, which is reluctant to start when it has been left for a while. Ie over night. It has to crank for ages and then starts to go but you need to keep cranking for a bit more then it starts. Once started it belches out a load of black smoke, but once running seems to run fine. Also it I come back to the car after about 30 mins it starts fine???
It seems like a fuel problem to me but I can not find the problem.
I have changed the fuel filter and the filter housing head.
I have cleaned out the water collector thingy at the back, on the chaise rail.
I have fitted new glow plugs about 6 months ago (when the head went)
I have sniff tested the header tank to check the head and all way fine.
I am running out of ideas. I have an auto so I think it has a electronically controlled fuel pump. Could this be the issue?
Any advise would be welcome as I am now stumped
Many thanks
Mike
