Hello,
well I bought a V8 Disco and am pleased.I need to get a spare key and wonder please if someone can tell me the best way to get one.I do not have the EKA code.I went to a main dealer who told me no records as a Jap import.I looked at the internet and saw a programming set up for about £90.00. Juts not sure what to do.
Hope somebody can help.
My other question is can I buy a paper work shop manual anywhere? I see Haynes do a diesel one and think thats probably the same apart from the engine or am I wrong?
Thank you.

As all your previous posts are referring to a D2 I assume that this thread does also.

With the the D1 the security system was limited as the theft of motor vehicles in Japan had severe penalty’s,
therefore it was without a factory fitted alarm and immobiliser, it’s only recently, possibly 10/15 years, that vehicles now have have security systems... so does your D2 have the full factory fitted security system.?

As always, you can get a facsimile of the existing key profile cut on a blank, which u install into the fob, so end up with a key + fob similar to what you have already.

For the manual here’s a direct link, it may include your engine, I haven’t looked.

Thank you very much its a D2, are the programming things easy to use?
Thank you all for your inputs...great help. will buy a Haynes book.

The Haynes is not for V8s for some reason but the RAVE manuals do cover it especially as they seem to be for the US. Now you have two links to the same place I think you'll see what we are referrring to. You will find the V8 there.:):):):)
The Haynes is OK for everything else. that is, as "ok" as any new Haynes manual is!:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Thank you.
I watched this and read the captions.
The bit I do not understand is how the key gets programmed.Does it fit in the green plug in unit?.I think i need to start the car with my key then plug in the programmer.
How does the key get programmed please?
I assume they key they send is just a blank and needs to be cut, what happens if after all this the key does not fit?
Perhaps i am missing something.
Thank you

You plug in the programmer and it syncs the key alone in 30 seconds... then the fob will work cos that's what needs programming, to cut the blade it's a locksmith's job

I have been investigating the security system on the car it seems it does not have an alarm,I had a TD5 which did and the sensors are missing and no light on dash.I am not sure about an immobiliser .

When i first arrived home with the car i had a problem getting the key out of the ignition and ended up with the door open and the horn continually sounding, much to my neighbours displeasure.I am not sure why this happened, never happened again. long drive and very tired.

I thought I may have pressed the close button with the door open or its the immobiliser...any thoughts please?

I can open my drivers door with a key without any problems, when i go to put the key in the ignition a red light comes on in the ignition lock circumference and a bleeper sounds, stops when key goes in.....So do not need a EKA number...on my TD5 you could not do this. How can i check if a immobiliser is fitted please?

I wondered if the car was a police vechile when it lived in Japan as its white but has a black rear door(tailgate).Inside of door is white just outside and privacy glass is fitted rear windows and tailgate. I looked in to this and saw that Japan uses black and white as a colour scheme.....I wondered if this would explain lack of security system..... I do note Discool's earlier posting about cars fitted with the alarms.

There is no such thing on a D2 like immobiliser without alarm... they are together, as long as you dont see any activity of the red led on the dash the alarm/immobiliser is disabled or not fitted that light around the ignition is only for illumination it has nothing to do with the alarm but it seems the sounder works the other way around cos it should sound if you let the key in and open the door.

Thank you gives me some thing to think about and need to get some security for the car. Not sure if an aftermarket alarm is any good or perhaps a LR system could go in ,as i think the loom will be in place as under rte seats wires exist for electric seats, so hopefully the alarm would be the same.

Thank you Sierrafery........been reading the handbook some more and trying things out on the car.If i lock the car with the key fob the indicators flash once and the red light in the dash flashes.According to the manual this indicate rear door, bonnet and side doors are protected and immobiliser activated.

If i put a key in the door open and then lock same way nothing happens no light on the dash or indicator flash.I have two blanking plates either side of the B posts. So i think i have 3/4 of the system.

I will continue ..thank you for all your help.

To give some closure on this I have a mobile key man coming to sort out my key.I tried to get the key i bought from e bay linked in but no good.
I paid extra to get the 16 digit code but with two machines the garage said they could not do it the analysers would not talk to the ecu machine.
Probably keep the e bay one as a 3rd spare.....thank you for all your help.
