Discovery II suspension problem

Hi i have a TD5 7 seater with air suspension. I have had both air bags replaced (at different times) in the past and have once again developed a fault.
Under normal driving conditions, and standing on the drive overnight the suspension is fine, however if you put a heavy load in the back(when the engine is switched off) the drivers side rear goes down after a short period.
If i then start the engine the bag doesn't inflate, but if I drive off the curb and down the road a short way the bag inflates as normal and drives fine.
If I then stop and turn the engine off with the load still in the boot it stays inflated !
So it only seems to deflate when you add load to the boot when the engine (and compressor) are off.
I have read most of the advise you all give and intend to check the air bag, pipes and sensor as soon as i can, but if someone knows exactly what the problem is then they could save me a lot of time.

U never know exactly what the problem is with a L.R.

Swap the sensors between them and see what happens(disconnect battery first)

I had exactly the same problem on Monday after towing my Ifor Williams trailer. After unhitching and raising the suspension and hitching up again it has been fine.

Mine used to do that. Or if I parked at an odd angle. Had a pin hole in an air bag.

That's the most obvious ...swapping the sensors will lead closer to the answer cos if the problem will persist it means it's a leak(could be a sticking valve too) and if it will drop on the other side or not at all it means it's a sensor/management issue....swapping the sensors will make them work on the unused part of them and may fix things sometimes

Hi John, if you park with two wheels on the curb and the others on the road, the angle detecters will assume the vehicle is not correctly aligned after engine switch-off, so will attempt to level the vehicle. Once you drive down the road, the system is again levelling the vehicle, so it sounds like normal behaviour to me - unless there's more to it than you initially said?

Thanks for your responses. I have finally found time to investigate my problem and you guessed it, its a leaking air spring.
So i have ordered a dunlop one from LRspares for £80 and will attempt to fit it myself.
I will let you know how I get on.

If you had not been so quick to order it i have three spares could have sold you one . why do i have three spare well replaced both of mine but only one was f###ed then i was at a vintage rally & one of the stalls had a pair at a price just could not say no to :dance:

How many u want would sell two as want to keep a spare just incase you now what like sell three then bang ? make me an offer as was gonna put them on flebay

Dont do offers what do you want for the pair?, ive only just got a d2 but mite be a good idea to get a couple if the price is right

Hi John, don't mean to worry you but a number of peeps have had trouble with Dunlop airsprings over the last 12 months - bad batch perhaps.

Anyway, IF you have a chance to change your order for a Contitech (OEM) one, you would be well advised to do so.
