Where to start, my 98 discovery v8 has cut out recently on a couple of occasions and struggled to start again. This time cut out and would not start again. Left it over night and had a play with coil and leads and got spark and off I went before it cut out after another couple of miles. Not sure where to start and do not have loads of cash to throw at it. Any ideas/suggestions would be much appreciated. Love the V8 just hope I can fix it. Thanks in advance.

hi matt dont know if this helps any, but had similar situation with my 97 v8 disco, ended up being two problems the wires to the fuel pump (easy to locate under plate in boot) were a bit dodgy plus fuel pump relay was faulty . one minute she was fine then she wwouldnt start for days changed relay never had problem with it since,

Cheers buster, had thought about fuel as something to investigate, only as a last option as have a gas conversion and problem has occurred whilst driving on the gas, not to say I don't have more than one issue, fingers crossed.

disco's hey:D i run mine on gas as well, borrowed it my old man once, he broke down after bout 10 mile lol the gas/petrol switch had loose wire took me hours to find the problem:mad:
what miles do ya get on gas mate, only askin coz when i first had her am sure was doin bout 100 miles on 20 quid now its down to bout 60 - 65
hope u get her sorted

Cheers Buster, hope I get her working too, just to know where to start, getting her back soon off the truck so will start then and see how things go. Not had her long but averaging about 100 miles for £20 (two 30 litre torpedo tanks) thats around town and dual carraigeway mostly, a bit more on longer runs. Gauge does not work, always shows full, so run it on the odometer and that seems fine, much better than the petrol anyway, might as well watch the fuel gauge go down rather than the speedo go up.

mine did this, it was the ignition control/booster module (the little black box on the disctributor)

I am having a similar problem. I have changed the spider (bypassed) but after running fine for months it has now decided not to turn the engine over with the starter motor. Would this be the ignition contro booster?

Thanks in advance.
