Discovery Advice

Hi guys. After a long and hard decision i have warmed to the idea of getting a discovery. I am moving to LA and can get a 2001 or 2002 discovery 2 for about $10k. I dont know much about them but they look class in the right colour. The interior is roomy and class. I am wondering about servicing and part costs. I have a BMW which i am selling here in Scotland and i think the costs will be similar to that.

Am i making a good choice. This is where i have been looking los angeles craigslist > > cars & trucks: search for "land rover"

What is the best one to go for. Im not sure about the letters and what the mean. Like HSE and SE and all that. So any advice would be most welcome.

I am not sure on the US spec letters and what they mean, as far as I know you don't get a diesel Disco in the US, just the V8 petrol but given the price of fuel there, its probably not much of a concern.

yeh not concerned about petrol but to be honest i know nothing about them. expensive to maintain and are they reliable?

They do look great and i could get a fairly new one for my money.
