My Sept. 09 Disco 4 has suffered a broken transfer box after 35,000 fairly gentle miles and nothing extreme off road. It took 3 weeks to get the part which was replaced under warranty. When I asked what had gone wrong the mechanic replied "We can't look inside them". I am amazed by this - is it a freak or has anyone else suffered from it?

A second really irritating problem is that the drain holes from the A pillars get blocked, so after heavy rain water comes out of the air-bag points in the A pillars dripping onto the leg of driver or passenger. Has anyone got an easy cure for this (other than water-proof trousers)? The garage say that it involves the removal of rear quarter panels and is quite a palava. They also asked if I parked it under trees. Well yes - I have dogs so actively seek shady places. I can't believe that Land Rover owners are not expected to park under trees!

Otherwise, it's great apart from the EGR cough that it develops after running slowly for about an hour and then being cranked up to motorway speeds.
