Up for sale is my 300tdi Land Rover Discovery. It’s a great car and is an excellent, reliable runner but unfortunately I can no longer afford to run another vehicle. It has had a few sensible modifications but by no means is this an abused off roader. It has been used for a camping/fishing/work horse and the odd green lane trip. It has never missed a beat.
The modifications are as follows:
· Differential guards front and rear.
· Safari style snorkel (all plumbed in correctly).
· Full breather kit plumbed into snorkel
· Roof bar with very bright LED spotlights.
· Heavy duty winch bumper with a Superwinch Husky. This has never been used in anger so is in great condition. These are fetching over £400 on ebay alone.
· It may have a suspension lift. I’ve not done this myself but it seems to sit a little higher than standard. Could just be heavy duty. The springs are blue. The shocks will all need replacing as it seems a little “bouncy”!
· Steering guard.
· General Grabber all terrain tyres (265) a little large so rubs on full lock
The chassis and bodywork seem to be in great condition for what is. The paint work is covered in “tree rash” (fine scratches from trees etc brushing the paint) These may polish out I have never tried. Inside the rear door shuts are rotten in the usual place but everywhere else seems solid. Recent work I have carried out includes an oil service, two wheel bearings, new prop shaft “doughnut” and a new clutch slave cylinder. I was informed by the previous owner that the cam belt was changed at around 145k but have no proof of this. I took his word but it’s up to you if you choose to leave it.
The interior is not in bad condition for its age but to be honest it could do with a good clean. The seats have always been covered so they should be clean. All the electrics work as they should.
Overall this will make a great workhorse for somebody or a perfect start to build an off road toy. Just needs a big lift and some mud tyres or perfect as it is for a green laner.
