Discovery 300 TDI rev counter.

Can anyone give me some advice my rev counter is pished its constantly bouncing about like its got a loose wire or something does anyone know what the useual fault is and where to start looking. Thanks Guys.

it's usuallly the alternator connection that causes this... could either be a loose wire or the alternator on its way out.

there a single wire in the back of the alternator . it goes to the rev counter. just make sure it is not loose or bad contact. This will solv ethe problem

This was the first sign that the P gasket had gone on mine, the steam / water was hitting the connection on the alternator

It's the little wire on the alternator - bad connection or broken wire.
