hiya

Firstly that’s a very nice model to have , if u can’t find anyone u can get a basic code reader called an Autel AP200 , they come in different colours so best to get the white one , they are only around £60 as then ur have ur own one that’s registered to ur vehicle and very handy to have to keep in ur glove box , work via ur iPad or iPhone

then ur be able to read all ur codes , print them out , then clear them, re scan and see what codes come back

plus have u got wiring diagrams for the radio circuit , if not can send one for u as ur then be able to use a multimeter to test voltages etc

Also trying to remember if u need to re synch them, ie, if there’s a safety feature in place like if someone steals one and tries to fit it into a different motor is diagnostics is required to sync them all back up, I’ll see if I can find out for u

hope that a little help to u , I’ll also find the link to that Autel for u

plus have u tried a hard reset yet plse

u disconnect both battery leads from the battery , then ensuring the leads don’t touch the battery to touch both the positive and earth cables together for around 5-10 x minutes , just ensure they don’t touch the battery posts

plus using a multimeter with the engine off what’s ur battery Vdc reading plse

No re sync required Gary d3 radios are just a swop out unit iv just replaced the faulty 1 in my new V8 :D

many thks mate as wasn’t 100% sure , just mentioned if a hard reset might work and what the Vdc is in the battery , plus read if the battery is low it starts shutting down some of the system

thks again

If the battery is low the radio actually shows low power mode when you try and turn the volume up it did this just after I fitted the new radio and new battery. Quick charge of the new battery and all sorted.

A hard reset can work sometimes for a no radio fault.

Thanks for your help will get a⁶p200 and see were we are with the codes

Thanks for your heip clearly will get a reader to see were we are with the codes, are , i have a number of landrover ie old one with a simple wiring this sysem is beyond me light beaams ? If you see parked outside your house with a note on you know we have failed thanks again steve.

Ur so welcome and as always a team effort , good few of us now own D3’s so can walk u through it , lol, regarding the disco left on my drive with a note :)

if ur handy with a multimeter these few tests can tell us alot before u get ur tester

1) with the engine off, multimeter set to Vdc , see what the battery readings are
2 ) ohms canbus test

test procedure

With both battery leads disconnected from the battery posts

Multimeter set to ohms, ( TP Is just short for test probe from ur multimeter)

TP to pin 6 other TP to pin 14 , read ohms

TP to pin 3 other TP to pin 11, read ohms

then do a hard reset

once you have it to see what codes are present , indeed best to write / print out the first error codes, clear them , then rescan

plse let us know how ur get on, plus that reader whilst basic can program new keys so even that is well worth it k considering the main dealer would want around £280 , personally cost me totally £60 after buying a new key off eBay , then got the blank cut for £10

As a side note many of us own another scanner called a gap iid , unfortunately are expensive but they will do virtually everything a garage scanner can do , think there now around £500 , but as basic that Autel will at least allow u ti get the fault codes as that will then allow us a direction to go on

ref ur radio error , is it the 6 x CD one and does the head unit turn on or completely blank plse , thks

wiring for radios, page 140 , showing fuses that are also in the system , after pressing the link, press download to enlarge the diagrams

Also so nice when help is appreciated , ur be surprised where people don’t say plse or thk u

We have repaced amp/head unit / bluetooth moudule.
Were the replacement units coded to work with the vehicle?
You can't just replace units without them being registered on the data bus by a suitable diagnostic programmer, or they'll be ignored by the rest of the system.

To answer your question no , just fitted hoping that a replacement part would get us there. How do we get the fitted parts coded ? I can follow a standard wiring diagram but to be honest strugerling with this. Which was why i was asking if there was anybody on lancashire could help as have replaced a good number of parts . Best regards steve

Iv swopped a few of the audio units between D3s everything worked.
I'm pretty sure it's not the same for the other units as gearbox computers need programming to each car.
Normally replacement units on a MOST ring need to be registered with the ring controller, which is normally the head unit.
This means if a head unit is replaced, then all the other components on the ring won't be recognised, as they'll all be different to those registered in the ring controller.
This is how it works on MOST equipped Range Rovers and the Freelander 2.
Maybe the D3 is different, but it would be strange if it was.
