I recently bought a discovery 2 td5 facelift 2003. The previous owner told me that the central locking was not working and that i should be careful not to press the key fob twice because the car would superlock...

Since then i've been searching on the internet to find a solution with no luck. These are the symptoms:

- With the key fob the car won't lock or unlock. But when i press it once the alarm gets connected.

- From the drivers door I can only lock or unlock the drivers door, the rest won't move.

- From the interior button, nothing happens, no locking or unlocking.

I thought it might be the IDM module (interior fuse box), i bought a 2nd hand one with the same numeration and still no luck. I wired some earth cables to the ones of the BCU and nothing.

I am thinking on replacing the BCU, or maybe buying a door actuator to try, is it posible that all of them are broken? It sounds strange to me but you never know...

Any advice is welcome.

Hi. I see that you made some research so if you are handy with electrics and you have RAVE( you need it for connetor views, if you domt have it download this https://www.sugarsync.com/pf/D8700125_05791262_69057?directDownload=true ) i'll try t help you so here's the plan:
1. See - connector views C0459, access it cos it's not so hard, identify pin 5 (blue/green wire) and give eart from behind into it with a wire and report what happens
according to the result we'll go further

before that step put your ear on one of the passenger side doors while you lock with the fob and listen carefully, if you can hear any activity it means all the laches are fubar, not very common but can happen if they were neglected while they failed one by one untill all died.

Sierrafery, I'm very pleased that you have read my thread, as i have read lots of your posts.

I have put my ear in all the doors and when i press the key fob to close the car I can only hear a kind of double clic in the interior fuse box and nothing else. When I press to open it, I can hear the same sound in the interior fuse box but i can hear also something in all the laches, as if the where trying to open the doors. But if I just press with my finger the thing (i don't know the name for that) that closes each door manually from the inside and i try to open the car with the fob I can hear the double click in the interior fuse box and the laches making some noise, but not opening the doors.

As I can read in the document you send the C0459 connector has something to do with the speakers of the car? I am going to read the Central Door Locking Chapter, to learn a little bit more about it.

I just downloaded RAVE, now i need to install it in a computer with the proper operating system.

If you hear activity in the doors it means the system works and it's trying to open them so let C0459 alone for now, unfortunately in this case you'll have to start removing door cards one by one, start with the tail door cos it's the easyest, unplug the actuator and measure voltage across the pink/purple - pink/red wires(C0831 pins 7 - 4) while you lock/unlock with the fob and according to the result we'll speak again cos it's possible that only one latch motor to have a problem which creates a voltage drop on the circuit hence not enough power for all the motors together

I have removed all the door cards and i have disconnected all the C0831 connectors and tested then one by one (with the rest disconnected) , 12,2V (more or less) in all of them, when I lock or unlock with the fob.

Shall I try to connect all of them and check the voltage on each?

I have also tried just by connecting one of the latches, to lock and unlock with the fob, but nothing happens. When i lock i can hear the relay in the interior fuse box working and when I unlock I hear the same plus the latch trying to work. I thought that maybe if there was a voltage drop due to one of the latches I could just try one by one to see if any of them worked, in order to find out which one is broken.

I am thinking that maybe i should remove the tail door latch (as it seems to be the easiest one, no window removing needed) and test it with a battery to check if it works or not.

Another thing I'm thinking, it's to buy a new tail door latch and try it on its own, what do you think?

That was the last thing I wanted to hear... :(

I found a post about changing the interior motors of the latches, I might give it a read. I will inform here how everything turns out.

Thank you Sierrafery for your help, appreciated!!!

Finaly I sorted out the problem. All the latches are broken.

Solution:

I took out all the locks (removing the windows) and I opened them and changed the lock motor for a new one. Total cost of the five motors $35 and a couple of mornings changing them.

I hope this helps someone.
