Hello Everyone
Recently had a failure with my Key Fob, changed the Battery CR2032 3volt, still would not unlock the doors.
Discovered previous owner had changed the ignition barrel lock, not the drivers door, so would not open the Drivers door. Cost of a New Lock Set - Barrel & Door Lock £589.53 from Landrover main dealership.
RAC called-Failed to gain entry. On his advice, "call a locksmith". Had no further information on how to gain entry, efforts to gain access by wedging frame on the door, placing a wire trying to hitch the catch, due to the design-roundness-tiny amount protruding - this also failed.
Called a Locksmith he tried his best - but failed to gain entry.
Due to the advice from the driver, I now have to pay for the locksmith myself £75.00, even though I have Key Active policy with the RAC. Looking at the computer held by the breakdown RAC man, the incident was marked Electric not Security. If it was marked as Security I would not have to pay. Now in dispute with RAC.
Back to the reason for non-entry.
Lesson for all - flat battery so obviously no access the vehicle to pull bonnet catch, also Key Fob would not work-make sure you all have a Key for the drivers door Non-Chipped.
Phone call to: Landrover Main Dealership provided, at a cost £15.00, the original key number for the drivers door.
Then able to have a Key Made for the Original Door.
Problem Solved
Note: contacted Landrover Main Dealership ask how to gain entry through rear door, they refused to tell me, fair enough, it does make it why as so many being stolen. They did say it is possible but would not elaborate. Even if they had told me I would not place the info here.
