Hi Guys,

Have a 52 plate Disco 2 TD5. Suffered loss of power & poor running so suspected something to do with the injectors.

Discovered that one of my injectors (green top) has a cracked spring.
Land Rover have told me that a new injector is required which will cost over £300!!!(just the part)

Have no choice but to replace the injector which i intend to do myself, but can anyone tell me how to remove the injector in the first place. Is a special tool required and if so where can i get one?

Have read on the forum that i then need to get the injector programed to the ECU. Is this expensive?

Very grateful for advice/help

Thanks....

Just a couple of tips:

You could always get a second hand injector from a breakers' for considerably less than what LR are after.

If you can find somebody with a Nanocom nearby they could code up the injector to the ECU for you. Failing that, it will be whatever the stealers charge for half an hours time on Rovacom...

Have a search on here for threads ref injectors - I've seen a few suggestions for removing them.

Hi

You should beable to get a recon injector from your local diesel specialist
for around 190 notes or get your own recondition
If you fill your location in on your proflle i may beable to tell you where to go to
Cheers David

Where are you located?

Thanks guys, have located a very reasonably priced recon injector. My local landy specialist have quoted £58 to program it to the ECU. Land Rover dealer quoted £100 to do the same thing!

post where you are and some one local may do it for free £58 is still too expensive you can buy a nanocom for £225 and do the job yourself and never have to pay for a diagnostic check again

just seen this post, I have the same problem with a broken injector spring on my disco TD5. Only found when changing injector seals to sort a starting problem. The injector works ok and I was hoping I could just change the spring from a faulty injector I have. So has anyone done this or know how to remove and refit this spring. Thanks.
