View attachment 135153 View attachment 135154 this is whats broke :( deffo sticking with it, cant get enough of it, its a love hate relationship....i love it, it hates me!

one other thing....why dont i have a water sensor on my filter? just a round white cap, the plug is tucked away :/ no lights on the dash etc.

I've got the socket on my filter but no plug on the landy  don't worry about it I don't!

Someone will be along to tell you which pipe that Is, I have changed my filter head but didn't learn that much about it
Might be worth giving the head a clean and inspecting the seals between the aluminium head and brass pipes. They can corrode and degrade causing leaks in which case you'd have to change the filter head anyway. Hopefully not the case though

ah so thats one less thing to worry about! cheers.

im hoping and praying the metal pipe that has broken can easily be replaced, i'll do the filter at the same time as its looking like its seen better days. then spend ages bleeding the system as im sure this car of mine wont just fire straight away!

Ok I think it's the Air bleed valve that's snapped. If you Google 'td5 fuel filter head' and check the images the first one is a very helpful diagram. I'd download it and post but the file type isn't supported on here.
Search 'td5 fuel bleed' or similar on here there's loads of info.
With mine, I turned key to ignition 2 and pumped throttle 5 times. This sets off a self bleed sequence which last a few minutes. You'll hear the pump going on and off. Mine started first time doing this after I changed in tank pump and filter head on desperate occasions.
Make sure you've got a good battery on it though if you do the manual bleed sequence which is detailed in owners manual.

Edit: I was going to edit 'desperate' to 'seperate' but it's just as descriptive of the situations

thank you! ive just googled it and its deffo the part i need, now just to order one, seems like most places cant get it to me until tuesday/wednesday but i suppose if thats how long it takes im just gonna have to wait, unless i find someone breaking one near me!
and thanks for the bleeding procedure, thats going to help a lot :)

AND SHES FIXED! i figured why not just go all out and replace the whole filter housing, so thats what i did, a local guy had a nearly new genuine land rover one that he sold me for a very good price, so i spent a hour or so changing it yesterday, bled the system ONCE! and she fired straight up :) :D

so we are back on the road, today my temp needle went to half way, something it hasnt done for a while (i was on the way to get the new thermostat and coolant when it did it, its like its torturing me!) then once i got those parts i came out of the shop and the starter was just clicking, it started after a couple of times and now ive ordered the fix kit off ebay. i swear this car will be made of new parts once im done with it!

i think its translating to about 2 hours worth of work gets me a good 25 miles driving! thats good for a D2 i think haha. mine went just above halfway, then dropped back to just above the blue, i think its the main thermostat that has gone so im replacing and re-bleeding the system, i'll see how that goes!
