Afternoon all, bought myself a td5 disco, the clutch is starting to slip every now and again in high gears. I've changed clutches in older discos, but does anybody know or can point me in the direction of a good "how too" for doing the job? I would like to read up on it before I attempt it. I have spent a very long time looking but have not found any thing suitable, I'm hoping one of you guys knows where I can find such a thing.

Many thanks inadvance, Gareth

no but done alot ,its similar to disco 1 ,in that i would use engine crane through center tunnel to lift /lower box ,the only tricky bits are getting the bell housing back on engine while keeping pipe brackets that top 2 bolts go through out of way .nut on block side of starter ,cross members bolts often snap ,but captive nut can very easily knocked off with chisel ,dont forget 8mm headed bolt on shield on passenger side ,remove crank sensor 11 oclock drivers side easy with engine crane as whole lot can be lowered/lifted on engine for access, spigot bush need changing and checked as can be too tight a fit and so noisy often have to emery out ,the drivers side one of the two top bolts holding transferbox to gearbox is good place to hang from as holds fairly square but front heavy which isnt a problem like been twisted ,

Thanks very much for the great reply, wouldn't have guessed about the crank sensor, do you remove that from underneath or from the engine bay? did you support the engine from underneath with a jack while lowering the gearbox?

thanks. Gareth

best is by engine crane if you can beg steal rent one as for crank sensor and other parts you can lower right down while box still attached to engine and reach up fron underneath with 8mm spanner when ready to split support engine with bottle jack etc if you need more info ask
