Discovery 1 or 2?

He advises me to steer clear of TD5's, he tells me nuts/bolts have come loose and ended up inside engine causing death. Whereas his sale pitch for the 300tdi is it is so much simpler and easy to work on even for hobby mechanics.

It just seems to be a minefield out there, if they don't have problematic engines, the they have rusty chassis, if not that then rotted bodywork. Is there a good all rounder?

V8s are a dissapointment and way to thirsty.

The bolt yout neighbour is talking about effected cars up to about 2002 and was the oil pump drive bolt, it came loose the car lost oil pressure and wrecked the engine.
