Hi everyone,
Got a 97 Discovery 1, it has HIDs on the headlights.
The issue im experiencing is everytime I wash the car, a few hours after the headlights start turning on the brights/high beam on and off by itself, even when the car is not being driven.
Does anyone have a circuit for the headlights so I can follow all the wiring and hopefully find a resolution to this.
Thanks in advance

On the D1 all the headlight current goes thru the in car stalk. I have only experienced having no headlights other than high beam / brights. I don't have the HID's you do and I drought you are washing the interior .

I also cant turn the vehicle off if the lights are still on in mine

97 300 tdi

Some may say be thankful for having headlights

HID headlamps are a non-standard addition therefore the LR circuit diagram won't be applicable, but u can start checking the additional HID kit that will be installed somewhere at the front near the headlamps I suspect.

Then as HID are not legal on a D1, so restore the headlamps back to factory and then u will find a wiring diagram in the D1 workshop manuals… Haynes or online.

Unplug one side HID unit, plug in a normal H4 bulb and see if the flickering still occurs, if it does the car is at fault, if not the HIDs are duff, simple and no fancy knowledge needed.
Do not lean the H4 bulb against anything soft/plastic as they get very hot in use.
