Hi as anyone go any advice on getting the gearbox back into a discovery 1? It is in at the bottom but have a big gap at the top. Thanks

If it ain't properly parallel to the flywheel etc, it ain't going in. Pull back and realign. And whatever you do, don't try and pull it in with long bolts or nothing!
But then what do I know?

Did you check for play in the input shaft on the box if its worn & sitting low an off centre it wont align properly.

No I didn't check that. I just thought it would go straight back in but obviously not
