i know its not important but my es has cruise control that doesnt work the light on the dash comes on when you press the button but nothing happens when you play with the buttons on the steering wheel any ideas is there a sensor or something that goes wrong

Is you abs light on if not check vacuum as instructed, if that's fine check your abs bulb is plugged in, I had mine for a year without knowing it had an abs fault because the bstard seller just unplugged the bulb.

where can i find the vaccume ? is it a pipe or something else ? never had a car like landrover before bit complicated this one ha

It's on the offside front wing, black rubber pipe connecting to black plunger type thing. Follow the pipe back to make sure it's all connected, also it could be the brake pedal switch that is faulty.

cheers is there anyway to check or test brake pedal switch ? or buy a new one fit and see what happens would just be cool to own a disco where everything works

I'd check the vacuum pipe and then the abs bulb first or if you can get a diagnostic kit from someone it will tell you if there is a fault on the abs sensors on the hubs, but this should show with the abs light being on in the instrument panel.

abs light is fine is lit then goes off when i pull off

What had ABS got to do with cruise control?

My abs don't work and the bulb was missing when I brought it.
The ABS didn't work but the ends of the rubber vacuum hoses I could see had all split.
I cut the ends off and reconnected and for a while the cruise sort of worked but not very well.
It don't work at all now but I recon I just need to replace all the hoses and it will work fine.
Not sure of ABS connection?

ABS? a bit of dis-information there.

95% of the problem is a small bore rubber hose used from the vac pump positioned under the jack area in the engine bay to the CC actuator and on to the brake and clutch 'dump switch' as already stated the hose splits at the joints. The repair is just cut of the split ends off... but also wrap a few laps of pvc electrical tape around the hose and refit the hose and the end won't split again as it will if you don't.

I had been informed that cruise control will never engage if the abs has a fault on it, I may be wrong but after sorting my offside abs sensor my abs light went out and I could then use cruise control. I just can't see this as a coincidence and stand by what I was told.

Excuse me if my English is a bit rude.
If you do not know how the braking-system and crusiecontrol works I think you should be careful accusing a skilful member of "dis-information" (guess you mean disinformation). They cooperate and after reading the problems symptoms a couple of times I suggest you change the brake pedal switch if it didn´t help with fixed vacuum-pipes. Also clear the memory to avoid false alarms.

Q1. A LOT, they cooperate (of course). Mainly by sharing breake pedal switch. Fix the hoses and if you do not bother to do a proper diagnos just by and replace the brake pedal switch. Do not forget to strechen it out before fitting. It will then readjust itself.
