Get some oil off dip stick and put it on some tin foil then hold a lighter/flame/heater under it. If it starts to boil then there's water in the oil. Not a 100% but a quick and easy way to give you some indication. That along with some other tests will give you a clearer picture.I haven't done anything specific yet, no pressure tests or sniff tests etc.
Will get it checked beforehand to confirm before I set about taking it apart!
But i have asked a few people, and the general consensus is that it's the head gasket.

Don't bother. Get a couple of domestic radiator bleed plugs, much better and allows you to bleed with engine hot.Thanks for sharing.
Get two of these as well.

(replaces plastic ones).
Where did your EGT setup from? Are you happy with it?

Now I din't know that ! But I do now !
Looking good m8 like these progress threads really fills me with ideas dreading tearing in to mine seeing some of the work involved
