Does anybody know if it's possible to disconnect the Abs cus it seems to me it's more trouble than it's worth. I'm old enough to remember what we did before it was invented. I don't suppose it is cus I'm sure we'd all have heard about it by now but wouldn't it be great to get rid of them three little amigos.

You can pull the fuse or even the plug to the ECU. Why not just fix the ABS? Don't forget that if you permanently disabled the ABS, you will need to to inform your insurer. Not doing so will likely invalidate your cover.

they are a pain I have just got mine to work after changing sensors cleaning relays and the earth connections on the inner wings the lights are working as they should

I've had a running battle with this abs. Thought I'd got it sorted but now I've got two more sensors gone down. No resistance on rear near and front offside which oddly packed up at the same time. I don't have the facilities to fit new sensors and rings which I think it's going to need. It just seems such a pain in the backside system that i'd happily get rid of.

You will need to advise yer insurance if you disable the abs.

Disabling the abs is not a good idea.

what is wrong with it ? sensors are changeable ,I changed my abs module pump yesterday and bled brakes ,I have changed sensors too its not hard can we help

Same happened on mine both the rears that I had replaced previously had failed at nearly the same time. ...I put it down to cheap sensors....as yours are open circuit, easy fix as you know they are faulty.....get them changed....

I got mine here...... http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=310978829039&alt=web

Thanks for the offers of help guys. Problem is I'm touring devon for the summer in my caravan which makes ordering stuff online next to impossible and working on the vehicle awkward to say the least. If I can get the sensors, what's the possibility that the reluctor rings would need replacing? If the test involves a multi meter how do you manage to get them on the two little terminals down the center of the blue plug?

I haven't seen a blue plug before but know they exist. Can someone post a pic of a blue plug?

You can get meter probes with pointy spikes. They slide onto the normal probes.

I have pointy spikes on my multi meter. The problem is trying to get a good contact on the terminals which are also sharp point spikes. I've worked out which four pairs of terminals are the sensors at the main connector on the abs unit. Not sure which is left and right on the rears cus I haven't got at the rear connectors yet. All I know is one of them is no good. How does one post photos on the forum? I've got a couple of the blue connector.

What year is your Freelander? Later Freelanders don't have ABS rings as they use magnetic wheel bearings. The sensors are also different. They are active instead of the passive type fitted to early Freelanders.
