Hi all,
Is there any way to clean the Glass on a Freelander Facelift Head light.
The offside if perfectly clear but the nearside looks as if it"s Dull a bit Smokey. Would that affect the MOT?
Any idea where I could buy the Connectors for the Lights preferably with the wires still attached..

Maguires headlight restoration kit will do the job. I have to do mine every year, just before the MOT.

Potentially. It's dependent on the opinion of the examiner.

You could ask at local scrap yards too see if they've sold the lights, but still have the harness plugs in place. I did hear that Mini headlight plugs are the same, but haven't checked myself.

Thanks for that Nodge but I won"t be needing any Headlight restoration kit, I already have one. A tube of ARM and HAMMER Baking Soda Toothpaste.which cost a £1.00 in the Poundshop. I just found a video on the internet and the chap was restoring his with Toothpaste and tooth brush but it has to be Baking Soda Tooth paste. I"ve just tried it and it works perfectly, the result being a Sparkling shiny Headlight Glass.

You are quite right, any fine abrasive will remove the clouding and leave the headlight looking like new, the only issue is that you now have no UV protection on the plastic so it will cloud again fairly quickly, most of the kits contain a UV coating compound that protects the headlight plastic from the UV and means that it will need doing less frequently.
 
I guess any mildly abrasive polish will do the trick. I use Barkeepers Friend, not because it was sold for the job or recommended to me but because I keep some in the kitchen.

+1 for this, it will give you a short-term improvement but you'll be brushing your headlights as often as your teeth!
 
Used metal Polish on mine works a treat then a light coat of wax every now and again been fine and clear since February

If the polycarbonate light lense has started to fog, then the UV protection has already gone. It's a sprayed on coating at the point of manufacturer, which does wear off over time, hence the fogging problem. ;)
 
Why can"t they produce a UV Protection that lasts longer? Whilst I"m on about the headlights I still don"t haven"t got the wiring diagram on how to fit the Facelight Lights to my 2003 Freelander. Anyone have one? even a hand drawn one would help.One more thing. Will the Headlight connectors on my present Freelander fit the Facelift Lights?

i used baking soda and white vinegar mixed into a paste a bit of elbow grease,i then applied car wax and gave it a good buff.10 months down the line still looking pretty good.
 
I used Astonish oven cleaner to get the worst off finished with t cut but was a yearly thing for mot on a 99 passat
