hi nearly ready for the first turnover, what oil should i use for the first 500 miles.

rover v8 engine was never dseigned to run with 5/40 so recomend either unipart fuch oil 10/40 or 15/40 mineral

Guinness, you should NEVER run a freshly built engine on semi or fully synthetic oil. Use a good quality mineral oil at the specified grade for your engine. 10w 40 in your case.
Better still, buy a proper running in oil. Try fleabay, 5l for less than £20, but i think you'll need nearer 6l. Hope this helps, Dave.
