Hi all looking at getting another land rover looked at one today 1999 disco county auto had Japanese labels in the engine bay and sunviser my last one did not is this right or sum kind of in port?????.

Cheers Ray..

Why inport a landrover to the uk me thinks there is sum thing not right.

Because Japanese MOT rules are very, very strict and cars which we may think are perfectly roadworthy are often required to be scrapped. Remedial work is very expensive and much of the repair work with second hand parts like we seen done in the UK is just not permitted on road vehicles.

As others have also mentioned, few suffer from body rot, so they become a viable product to buy for exporting from Japan. If the engine/transmission is sound then a Japanese import can be a good deal.

Just be careful as my mate bought a jap import disco which was rust free, but he got a letter saying he couldnt go into the LEZ as its registered as a utility vehicle and not an estate, hes tried to change it with ho luck so far, so just bear that in mind if you are planning to go near the big smoke lol
