i was driving along 2day and heard a slight grinding noise from front wheel at very slow speed so jacked it up when i got home and found i have play in my front wheel, spun it and ya can here it grinding so took a look at the other front wheel and it has very little play but its grinding..........

how hard is it to change the bearings ????

any special tools ?????

cheap and pretty easy, calliper off, halfshaft out and hub off irrc pretty self explanatory from there, knock the races out with hammer and chisel (brass drift if available) and carefuly knock / press the new ones in (copper hammer and/or a big socket). if the race is stuck on the stub axle cut it with an angle grinder (careful not to cut into the stub axle) and you'll find it comes off easy.....

Other than that, a good handful of grease and you're laughing.

I've had a similar thing spring up since having the ball-joints done on mine. Braking from a low speed and turning into a sharp corner slowly, an occassional grinding sensation is transmitted from the front wheels.

It turns out the tard who did the ball-joints and a heap of other work (for free that he was supposed to the 1st time around when I bought the car) hadn't been too flash at fitting the new wheel bearings. After about 1000klm's the problem surfaced. I could take it back and make him do it again, but frankly I'm primed to break my foot off in his ass. It's being hand-balled onto dad's mechanic instead n the old-man's paying for it cos I don't have the time to sort it next week. Hehe!

Its an easy job....you are too far away or i would show you how to do it.

to get the new races in, I just used the old ones.
Cut a slot on the hold ones, so they dont get as stuck when pressing the new ones in
