Went on the Wales trim over the weekend, on the whole was very surprised how my disco 2 tackled the lanes. Couple of battle scars due to overhang on the back, nothing too serious!

I did however have 2 more serious problems, on strata coming back my alternator threw a hissy fit and put the battery light on, coupled with a terrible screeching noise. I jet washed and tapped the alternator with a hammer to remove debris & if is now charging but the screeching remains, is this alternator related or something else?

On happy valley, switched off as we all stopped and split into 2 groups. The disco would not start again, it was turning over just would not fire, in the end we had to tow start it. I may be totally wrong but all I could think was some ****e had played havoc with the fueling, I might be totally wrong, starts fine now, never had a problem before?

Thanks for any suggestions

sounds like battery was low ,they will reach a stage were they spin over but voltage is too low for ecu, if its screeching belt must be slipping you need to see why

When it wouldn't start the battery voltage was good, the charging issues were the day before. It seemed like a fuel/immobiliser problem.
