ok so scrappyloz and i started in earnest, a little late (bout 1.30) as we had to go 20 miles to collect the disco from storage. the td dragged it up a long steep hill valiantly, almost like a last hurrah knowing its fate.
cut all the crash damaged front off disco.
removed battery and disconnected most of ancillaries.
fluids drained. recommend having several old washing up bowls handy.
put chocks under all wheels.
removed props. i started at diffs as they are far easier to access. then do transfer box end as you can freely turn props to access bolts.
undid engine mounts and supported engine.
removed gearbox crossmember having put wood blocks under to stop a total drop down.removed most bellhousing bolts except one on the bottom and ones at top.
removed bolt holding gearlever from top of gearbox.
removed engine far enough to rest supported and removed top bellhousing bolts and remain one from bottom. and seperated after much persuasion.
light faded too much now and we finally looked at clock.10.30 pm!!!!!!
