Oh knowledgeable ones...:):)

When i change my 200tdi defender 90 axles for 300tdi disco axles, would i be wise to use the disco coil springs - or would i invoke a ride to shake the fillings out of my teeth?
Just a train of thought as the Defender coil springs have been doing the job for 18 years as have the the Disco ones for 14 years, they look more beefy and just thought they might be worth changing over? :monitor_punch:

You thoughts and input would be greatfully received!

Thanks again, Paul

Yes they will physically fit.

As a rule to thumb, coil springs with thicker wire and/or less coils have a higher rate. This is irrespective of free length.

This would at least give you a comparative measure. I would suggest however that the front springs are likely to be very similar.

I put disco springs on the front of my 110 and it sits the same as it did before.
It is softer on the front but I havn't driven it more than a few yards yet so watch this space.
I'm hoping for a better ride than before, If you have the rears a little harder the body roll shouldn't be a problem, or am I talking rubbish again.:rolleyes:

im sure it may well sit the same but the spring has been designed for the disco and its weight,im sure with springs its all to do with how they work under load and how they work with specifif weight of each vehicle.

im sure the 90 springs are specific for each corner to take in consideration of the weight of the fuel tank and the driver

It's a Land Rover ffs :)
If the landy is lighter then they will work different when they go boing boing but I'm hoping anyway that the ride will be good and a bit softer than the 110 fronts and give a more wussey ride :D

110 have different rear spring diameters and therefor cup sizes. Disco has alot of overhang on the rear including the weight of a feckin hevy door inc spare wheel/tyre and the fuel tank. Thinks you need to do a search on google for spring rates its readily available. Jai

Rule of thumb when you a Landy has a crashy ride is to run comfort tyres pressures, then if you're still not happy replace the dampers, on a live axle they are crucial to ride comfort - and regular oil ones too - nothing fancy like yellow* heavy duty gas jobs.

*any yellow aftermarket part on a Land Rover by definition is uprated, therefore better, (not).
