Disco service in Scotland?

Just wondering if anyone can point me in the direction of a really good independant Landy specialist who will deliver a great service and good prices rather than paying our local landrover dealer.

The car is a 52 plate Disco 2 and has done 68k, not sure what service it actually needs, any advice welcome.

In the Fife/Dundee region!

I'm not aware of any specialists in the area, although it would be interesting to know. When the service became due on my Disco TD5 I phoned the dealer for a price and was told between £500 and £700 and thats over 2 years ago. So I did it myself. I will try and post a link later for the service schedule if its any help.

I did get a recommendation of a specialist over near Haddington but have not used them personally.

I've been using Whites (in Edinburgh) for my last 2 services, and a couple of adhoc pieces of work (starter motor recent failure). He's been reliable, sensibly-priced and I have no complaints:

Try Crow engineering in Auchterarder 01764 663020 or George Mclay at Larbert 01324 557735. Iknow George is still in busness but not sure about John Crow.

It is kind of sad that if I asked this very question in England that there would be hundreds of recommendations, yet here, a couple and no one shouting YOU HAVE TO TRY THESE GUYS! I have dropped Whites an e-mail and said you recommended me, and getting aprice for a B service - looks like the 72k one is going to be a killer wallet wise!

My 72k service was OK price-wise, certainly a lot cheaper at Whites than at the main dealer.
At 84k it was really pricey, as I also needed the aux drive belt, and had a couple of weeping oil seals replaced, as well as the turbo pipe...
Andy White charged a really good price for the components used, similar to the prices you find advertised in the magazines or on the web...a LOT cheaper than main dealer parts!
Incidentally, I buy my oil from Costco, to save money, and take it in the car for the service. I can get a top quality synthetic long-life oil for £9.99 (+vat) for 4 litres. Again, saving you a few £ per litre (the main dealer will charge you at least £10 PER LITRE, that's £70 for engine oil, and extra for diffs/gearbox's/transfer box...you could be looking at £100 for oil at the main dealer for the 72k service (whereas much less at Whites...especially if you take your own engine oil!). There's £60 saved!

There's Lix Toll over in Killin, or Kilmartin Garage. I've not used either of them myself but I have heard good things of both.

Thanks guys, I was going to pop into Whites in EDI as he as been good at communicating with me by e-mail, service is a good few months off, just want to consider my options as well as save some pennies!

I saw a Mike Aitken van in Fife just by chance, did a bit of digging, whilst he doesnt have his own website, i did manage to find reference to a guy who took his freelander there and was very happy with his service.

I ill get quotes from all of the recommended guys on here, as I am tight and scottish!

You could try Mike Aitken in Ladybank, Fife, he is a Landrover only garage, for servicing and repairs.

That is good to know - Ladybank is quite close to me.
