i will post in the other section too but local paper (Coventry Telegraph) had a story about over 30 reports to police that Discovery headlights were being stolen in broad day light from public car parks, apparantly they are in short supply and demand a £90 price from local scrappies...

just keeping you all in the loop

itll be facelift ones for D2 i imagine. BTW, D1 ones can just be pulled off from outside, they just "pop" off the fixings.

One of does that all by itself, fecking thing im sure its trying to escape before the same thing happens to it that happened to his mate on the other side, kin grate stone went through it and killed it dead :(

Probably wouldn't have helped with this as it was a rounded off half brick that came out from between the rear tyres of a lorry foooking scarred the ****e out o me i thought it was coming through the screen

Yeah, you're lucky the headlamp took one for the team! Brave lamp you got there. Did you make it a small coffin and bury it in the garden?

Or just sling it int' skip? :D

the 200 tdi ones are the same as a ldv400 van... so they cant be worth a lot... the top fixings are two long threaded rods that go through the front panel with plastic nut/adjuster thingies on the back so they wont just pull out , you have to open the bonnet to undo the nuts/adjusters.

before anyone corrects me the genuine land rover ones have landrover cast into the centre of the glass the ldv ones dont

you can just rip them out of the plastics though, usually its the plastic knobs that give way and not the threads into the back

my guess is that it's td5 facelift

I heard about this a few months ago, its the facelift lights they are after cos they can get a good price for them on e-bay. Apparantly a screwdriver in the right place breaks a fixing off somewhere and the light will come out without opening the bonnet.
