disco, my key light symble keep coming on

Hi can you help? P reg 3000tdi discovery my key light symble keep coming on & off when driving, may go a while say a few miles then on & off every 20 secons or so, only done it since it was stud for a few months and the battery went flat, put a new battery on started perfect as normal truck runs like new. It had a new key fob 6 months ago but been ok when that was done

You have an issue with the car immobiliser.

It could be that when the battery was changed you didn't reinitialise the fob. Or when the fob was replaced it wasn't initalised.

Or the immo unit itself is faulty.

No cost test:

Open the bonnet, loosen but do not remove the negative battery terminal, put key in ignition and turn to position II, within 15 secs remove the battery negative lead. Leave for 30 secs then reconnect the neg lead, close the bonnet, turn off the ingnition and lock the car with the fob.

Watch the the flashing alarm led on the dash, it should flash fast for about 20 secs then go to a slower rhythm.

Once that is done and assuming it follows the above pattern, your key fob is initialised.

So, that's step one to establish what is causing this issue.

Do you have any running problems where the engine cuts out?

No running problems all ok go`s like new, I will try thay & let you know.
