Disco jap import sub/amp

Hi guy's, need some help or guidance please.

I have a jap import disco, and it didn't have the subs in the back door, I have fitted them as the wiring is all there, but when I pulled out the stereo I have found this monstrosity!!!!

The radio and speakers work so guessing that the jap amp has been bypassed, but does anyone know what wires are for the sub speakers, as wiring is already at the back I just plugged in the amp so guessing, well hoping it will. I have a pre out at the back of the head unit and have prepped a phono lead..

On origional wiring there should be a thin wide black plug with 2 small wires going to it.

I cut off the plug and soldered on a phono lead and it worked for me.

Thanks guys, still had to joy. Think I might leave it, have completely pulled it all apart, found the red and black wires, which give the sound, tapped phono cable in and still no sound.. Never mind.. May have a nice set of rear subs forsale... Lol

Not only the audio but also u need both the 12v supplies.

Sorry forgot to say there I used a voltage meter to check and there is power running to the amp

And you also set the head unit to give a sub bass output at the phono ? also black is ground, red is the supply but I'm sure u know that

Thank you bud, had a look today and figured it out.. Well my old man did.. I was being a tool, I am no good with electrics.. :lol: all sorted now apart from the rear speakers play really quietly, I have also tried another head unit which I turned the sub woofer level to max and the pre out is a dedicated mono out put.. Still plays really quite...

Only thing I am un sure of is I used a phono lead that had a 3.5 jack on the end, if that would make any difference..

Or is it just the amp that is knackered?

If you have both your 12v supplies plus the millivolt audio supply at the amp and their polarity/connection are correct then the amp maybe faulty which is not unheard of, but is unusual.

Haven't a clue why u should need or use a lead with a jack plug.

Yep wired up the 2 powers, one connected to the remote and the other green/orange was already recieving a 12 v supply.

I am using the phono lead with a jack plug on the end as i had one lying around, as it is just mono coming through i didnt think it would be a problem.. Or am i wrong?
