Disco II td5 ACE question

hi guys,

I hope you could help me with two things. my mate who used to have a td5 with ACE fitted, having driven a few miles in my car told me that 'my ACE does not work as it should'. i checked the fluid level and indeed it is well below the minimum level. the questions are:

1) what is the ACE fluid I should buy to fill it up? uncle google doesn't seem to return any links to any online places where I could get one?

2) is there any simple method of checking whether the ACE works as it should? I haven't driven any other td5 to compare mine to.... I could possibly plug nanocom to it at some point but I'm just wondering whether no errors reported means it's all OK?

I was going to say that I was sure the fluid in the ACE was transmission fluid as in gear box and axels etc but I had a look on Discovery2 web site and it shows a lovely picture of the proper stuff from L/Rover, which must be an expensive way of doing it.

Here is the correct stuff, it's hydraulic fluid:
