1995 300tdi disco ( not fly by wire )
well all was fine and dandy this morning pulling realy well as normal
on way home tonight it was down on power and wont rev clean past 3250'rpm . idles fine and is running smooth with no black or white smoke
will change diesel filter tomorow , but any more ideas:confused:

Had similar problem......Check Turbo wastegate lever has not come off. Bit of a bugger to see and get to unless you know exactly where to look, tucked up under exh manifold.
 
Another thing to check, there's a pipe that runs from underneath the turbo round the back of the engine to the injector pump.
This tells the pump how much the turbo is boosting so that it can increase the fuel supply consequently.
Mine blew behind the engine where it can't be seen.
Just unplug at the turbo end & try to blow down it, if there's a flow through you have a problem with either the hose or the diaphragm in the pump.
You shouldn't be able to pass any air through it.

DON'T use a compressor, you'll blow the pump diaphragm.

inside top of lift pump it has a small gauze and it was blocked solid , also removed and cleaned out sedimant filter at rear ( was full of crap and water ) also did fuel filter
