L series back running rough.... again

Hi all my L series has started to run rough again the issue I had first was the injection pump gauze filter was full of crud I got a compressor and blew it all out and it ran fine then i changed the fuel filter oil filter and oil after that it ran fine then i took it for a short joy ride in the snow (Lots of wheel spin) I then let it idle for about 30mins while I was tinkering away I’m the garage and I heard a pop from it and it started sputtering and shut off. When I start it up now it runs fine but then after about a minute it starts going lumpy and then shuts off and won’t start again unless I unplug injector one wire it then starts up but won’t rev past 2500 revs and pumps white smoke out the exhaust pipe also miss fires like crazy, I think it may be the injectors also the fuel seems very dirty as I squirted some into a jar it was ran on tractor diesel before and while I owned it as it’s not a road vehicle

You might like to run some injector cleaner through the system. One of those bottles you buy at the car parts store and bung it in the fuel tank.

Do I just let it idle then when I put in the cleaner stuff or do I drive it for a while

Have you checked that gauze filter again?
Tractor derv is fine, what is normally the issue is the containers it is moved around in.

I have yes I may drop the tank some day when the weather is good I have took it for a real hard drive about an hour ago and it seems to have cleared up but that’s not for definite going to buy a few little bottles of fuel additive and put in regular fresh diesel and see does it improve

If the car will drive, you may as well drive it I suppose.

I've never had any problems like this and never used any cleaning additive, but there have been a number of times that it has resolved issues on here. The faults may have cleared coincidentally of course, and I'm not sure if mechanical devices can use placebos like humans can! Some people also run a bottle through the system regularly as well to stop problems from occurring in the first place.
