Cheers Lerk,

Just finished the boot lock on my disco. Handle had seized and the spring had snapped. Pics etc were great help. Got a kit of five off ebay. Just the four doors to do now and maybe the central locking will work properly again!!!

Done the passenger front door - took ages ! but works fine now. Also done rear door - much easier now i vaguely know what I am doing. Will finish the rest now :)
davek0974 - Sorry I dont have a pic of where the spring goes, but if you send a pic of the mechanism out the car, i will try to show you where it goes !

One thing witht he front doors, make sure the glass is FULLY rasied and undo the frame retating bolts. you can lift the frame clear and it gives you better access. After now pretty much doing all 5 (between mine and my bruv's disco) we have become quite experts, so far we have replaced nealry 20 over the last few months with mates disco's to. i will say tho, the tailgate can be fiddly with all the added trims and the connecting rods. If anyone esle needs help please ask Rob

sorry to but in guys , i am desperate for some help.. i lost power yesterday , im down to first gear up hills with a cloud of smog and a rattling alomost like a cylinder isnt working

wasnt sure how to start a new thread.. and thought after reading you guys were hands on and thought maybe if any one could help it would be you, it would seem however that i was wrong, i do apologise if i have offended any one, after much searching i discovered that it was a broken pipe that feeds the egr, so bought the blanking kit and removed egr runs fine now , but thanks all the same

Cracking set of instructions.
Got my springs. Replaced them on the back door and it's great - apart from also having a lazy motor that occassionally can't be arsed to push up the rod to release the lock. Maybe I'll soak it in WD40 and see if that helps :)

Did my front passenger door today and most of it was nice and straightforward, my two tips though are.

1) If you have two torx screws holding the window frame at the top (apparently some have bolts some have torx) get yourself a torx bit set because its a lot lot easier to get into the inside of the door with a bar or ratchet.

2) I found it easier to remove the interior door handle completely so you pull the mechanism out with most of the rods still in place, saves your sanity trying to undo them all while it's in the door and gives you less to worry about putting back together when re-fitting.

Really rewarding job to complete but can be a major pain in the hole unclipping the rods to get the mechanism out.
