Hi,

just bought a 300Tdi Disco, and have a problem with the central
locking/alarm when using the fob.

When I try to unlock by pressing the button on the fob it unlocks, and
immediately locks again. Moreover when locking with the fob, the alarm
doesn't get actuated, when locking with the key it does.

Any ideas?

Pieter

First thing is to replace the batteries in the fob and re-synchronise
with the vehicle. A dying battery can cause all sorts of unusual problems.

Thanks for that.

Changed batteries and re-synchronised, but no difference.

I had a look at the actuator in the door, and after fiddling with it it
works normally. Probably won't last but at least I know now where the
problem lies.

Pieter, I'm breaking a 1990 Disco at the moment - would you be
interested in the actuators ?

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the offer, but I live in Portugal and it might not be worth it
with postage.

Pieter,

There are some adjustable linkages inside the drivers door recess.
Something at the back of my mind is nagging at me that if the one from
the solenoid to the drivers manual lock/unlock handle (the bit that
sticks out vertically close to the glass ... you know the bit I mean)
gets slack then it can cause weird locking/unlocking symptoms.

Could be complete balderdash, of course :))

Thanks, it is working for now, but if/when the problem reoccurs I'll have a
look at that.
