Hi Everyone,
I recently upgraded to a 2010 Discovery 4 and loving it.
Slight niggle - the steering wheel is very slightly out by a few degrees clockwise when driving straight. I know how to fix this on my old Disco 2 but it appears that the Disco 4 steering gear is completely different.
I have had all 4 corners recently tracked with my local dealers' funky laser system and they were supposed to attempt to correct the steering wheel alignment at the same time but they didn't.
Can anyone suggest a way to align the steering wheel?
TIA.
Mike.

Not done disco 3/4 myself, but I would assume move the shaft around a spline or two, then reset steering wheel angle sensor?

Plus 1, move the steering wheel a few splines over and then will have to reset ur angle sensor alignment via diagnostics

personally had mine done with a Hunter 4 x wheel alignment system and the first time they done it the steering wheel was slightly out , they were able to correct this , surprised they couldn’t do the same , wonder if the wishbones , track rod ends etc are all ok

If I may add , plse ensure u disconnect ur battery and wait 20-30 minutes before removing ur steering wheel airbag if u decide to just move ur steering wheel a few splines

Know mines a D3 but have a discovery 4 steering wheel fitted to mine , ur also see an arrow on the column

hope that also helps

First off I'd put it on a diagnostic and see if the steering angle sensor is in alignment with the wheel.
If it is, then the track rods need adjustment to bring the wheels into alignment with the wheel.
However it's sensible to also check the suspension bushes, as a worn bush will cause the steering to be out, and adjustment won't correct the issue, as the suspension will shift, the moment the vehicle is in motion.
