Just a quick one.

Phone famous 4 in Louth the other day to see how they are getting on. Seems that they can't fit my new tank strap until i have the welding done because there is rust around the supports.

They said i'd have to drop the tank to do it. Can anyone tell me how to do it?
It will need to be done that day because it is my only form of transport.

hmm they dont weld themselves, tank strap secures to outside of chassis rail you can weld that up with tank in place providing chassis leg is worth it

I'm a wepder fabriator, so no point in wasting monry of something i can do. It is just finding the time to do it.

Hopefully get the disco back tomorrow.
Total now is £2448

Which was more than i thought when i forst bought it.

But now the:
Head,
Brakes,
Exhaust,
Wheel bearings,

Now i hope i can start playing with it.
Famous Four Louth. Has said not to do the 2" lift i want because I drive it 100mile to wprk and back each day, it would break more than it is worth, and also pretty much kill it.

I was thinking about getting,
HD springs +1 all round (most they will do).
New steering damper,
X brake,
CDL fixed, (won't go in at all)
Tank straps top and bottom are screwwed but it needs welding so will do that on time off,
Tint back windows dark as possible,
Create shelf for tool box,

My bigest problem before playing is that the back door skin is starting to come away. How do i get it back on?

Picked up the Disco tonight.
Loving the new exhaust. Seems to be more of a deep tone to it, when putting my foot down. Absolutely love it. Can't wait for the de-cat pipe and EGM block off to come.

Quick one:
Read somewhere on here. That a 3 1/2in straight through would be best. Is that true?
The new exhaust is a single box only, would it be any better if i chopped it off just bebind the box?

It's odd that I have my landy up for sale for over £2k which needs no work and has a few bits done like lift kit and big wheels and I get no interest but folks are happy to buy a cheap one that most likely will end up costing more than the expensive one.

To be fair, if i had known it would have cost this much in just undr 2months, i probably wouldn't have bought it. There is still more stuff to be done, but now all the major stuff is out the way i can start taking my time, and not having to use mechs at £47.50 p/h.

They did say that it needs a new tank cradle, which is about £90 but it would be more worth me doing the welding and fitting it both straps at the same time.

They all need work imho just some more than others! Sometimes its easy to get ripped off with an abused car masquerading as showroom quality. Just bad luck, trust in karma :hippie:

To be fair the bloke who i bought it off. After alot of persuasion did give me £100 back. And if it hadn't have blown up on the first trip to Scunny it wouldn't have been much more than 1600. So not really that bad for a 18yo Landrover.

Right it os coming to the expensive part of the month spending £4000 on my horses to live where they are.

So i was thinking of stock liling a load of parts then taking it back in. And getting them to fit it. Do you think they would have a problem with that?

you must have more money than sense!!!

Actually. If you must know a little bit about me.
I had a pretty **** childhood, so have strived to make myself the best i can be.and have worked my way through from 80p p/h to where i am now on £20p/h. And also proven myself time and again to get a job done on time a d do it right. But on the side note for nealrg 6years i battled with being an alcholic, and other personal things. So please before you say that i am 'boosting' or have 'more money than sense' take a minute or 2 to think that the person you are trying to slag off isn't 'privilidged' or 'well off' just worked hard and got to where i am because of my efforts to prove people wrong, throughout my life and feel proud to actually have things that are mine and passionate about getting an old girl back on the road and hopefully for years to come.

Pretty sure all Landrover owners have more money than sense really. I bought my rusty Disco for £600, and plan on spending £6-8k on rebuilding it over a few years only for it to be worth £3-4k when its finished :p
If you want to be sensible don't buy a Landy ;)

Think i'm over 2k right now.
Worked it out that just to keep mine on the road it averages out at over £100p/w + fuel.
